Originally scheduled for the spring, then postponed and reimagined as an online event, this edition became—after a six-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic—the first major in-person art market event in Europe. Against a backdrop marked by cancellations of international art fairs, travel restrictions, and economic uncertainty, Art Paris emerged as a major milestone in the art market’s recovery, bringing together 112 galleries from 15 countries.
For Intervalle, maintaining its presence meant reconnecting with artworks, collectors, and the art scene after several months of inactivity. The selection by Lucas Leffler, Elsa Leydier, and Julien Mignot extends the gallery’s focus on contemporary photography that explores the transformations of our time: shifting landscapes and imaginaries in Leydier’s work, industrial history and technological change in Leffler’s, and future scenarios and new ways of life in Mignot’s.
This edition also marks a major milestone in the collaboration with Lucas Leffler: it is the first time his work has been presented to the art market. The exhibition was an immediate success and paved the way for a collaboration destined to continue for the long term. This participation will thus remain a singular moment in Intervalle’s history: a time when, in the midst of a crisis that was profoundly and lasting upending the art world, the gallery chose—with the invaluable support of the CNAP during these difficult times—to continue exhibiting, engaging with, and circulating artworks.
