The Computer Punch Cards series is part of the CTY project, Antony Cairns' real obsession: photographing megalopolises around the world. Computer Punch Cards are unique works, made up of 30, 70 or 108 memory cards from the first computer users. These pastel-toned punch cards are found in old stocks by the artist. Pinned like the pieces of a puzzle, they recompose the image of a city photographed by the artist preferably at night and in neon light. These cards, containers of the memory of the first computers, act as relics and produce a mysterious but familiar imagery. Remnants of the digital age, they give birth to an organic, timeless city, recognizable across borders and cultures.
