Through photographs that draw on the conventions of the digital world, Mignot observes a form of intimacy now largely experienced through screens: looking at someone from a distance, waiting for a response, scrolling through images, discovering a body or a face even before meeting a person. The project explores this new form of closeness, which allows us to keep others constantly within sight while keeping them at a distance.
For this first gallery presentation, Mignot has collaborated with the artist Lasson to create a video and sound installation that gives physical form to this experience. The images are interwoven with video sequences and a soundscape that evoke the continuous flow of screens: appearances, repetitions, interruptions, and shifts in rhythm. The viewer is thus placed in a situation similar to what they experience in front of their phone or computer, moving from one image to another without ever fully grasping what is happening. Screenlove thus becomes a portrait of a generation whose relationships, desire, and intimacy are now built as much through images as through real-life encounters.
