Julien Mignot's Screenlove questions the emptiness of digital relationships and explores voyeurism, inspired by his adolescence in the 1990s, when he watched his neighbours through their windows. Now a renowned portrait painter, Mignot sees voyeurism as an essential component of his talent. He connects to webcams with the consent of the subjects and photographs the screen, creating blurred, incomplete images that distort reality. These photos are presented under a translucent monolith, through the edge of which the image disappears, symbolising disconnection, just as when the artist photographs the subjects in front of his monitor. This effect forces the viewer to adopt a voyeuristic point of view.
