Screenlove questions our relationship to voyeurism. These mysterious blocks refer to the window through which Julien Mignot used to spy on his neighbors. It was before the Internet, in the 90s, the artist was 13, 14 years old. Today, Julien Mignot is an accomplished portraitist whose signature can be found in international titles specialized in cinema and music. Of this voyeurism of young teenager, there remains something. This is one of the ingredients that makes Julien Mignot's talent. Screenlove is his contemporary vision of voyeurism. In front of his big monitor, camera in hand, he connects to sexy webcams. With the consent of the subjects who show themselves off who knows where, the artist produces a deliberately blurred and incomplete image. By getting so close to the bodies that he drowns the pixels, he distorts the appearance of real scenes captured on the spot. This photograph, mounted under a translucent and solid monolith, is hidden from our view. Faced with the work, the viewer becomes a voyeur, looking for the right angle. If he looks at the work by the edge, the subject disappears, disconnects and sends us back to the emptiness of the digital relationship. We find ourselves facing a glass, like the young adolescent voyeur. Screenlove has been shown in the contemporary art fairs Unseen Amsterdam (2018), Galeristes (2018) and Art Paris (2020, 2021). Julien Mignot is also the director of the short film "Sous la Peau" (2019) with Mathieu Amalric, Damien Bonnard and Victoire du Bois. His works are in the collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Musée Nicéphore Nièpce, the Leica Foundation and in numerous private collections.
