What's Up Photo Doc

In November 2015, Galerie Intervalle participated in the first edition of What’s Up Photo Doc, held at La Bellevilloise in Paris, featuring Elena Chernyshova. This exhibition, which grew out of Photo Off, affirmed its focus on documentary photography and its exploration of the transformations of the contemporary world.
Intervalle presented Elena Chernyshova’s work there, notably her series “Jours de Nuit – Nuits de Jour” (Days of Night – Nights of Day), dedicated to Norilsk, one of the world’s northernmost and most industrialized cities. Through her lens, the photographer documents the living conditions of a population facing an extreme environment and the profound economic and social transformations of their region. The gallery’s participation in What’s Up Photo Doc marks one of the first presentations of Elena Chernyshova’s work in France.
