Carlotta Cardana

03/17/2017 - 05/13/2017
The Red Road Project

Carlotta Cardana is an Italian photographer based in London whose documentary work explores issues of identity, territory, and community. In 2014, she participated in Galerie Intervalle’s very first group exhibition, The Eyes Collection #1, organized to mark the launch of The Eyes magazine.

In 2013, Cardana reunited in London with her childhood friend Danielle SeeWalker, a Lakota artist and writer from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Together, they decided to undertake a project dedicated to contemporary Native American communities. Their first trip to North Dakota in the summer of 2013 marked the beginning of The Red Road Project, which has continued through several visits and encounters.

From March 17 to May 13, 2017, Intervalle presents a selection of this long-term project. Through portraits, landscapes, and scenes of daily life, Cardana and SeeWalker bring to light stories and voices that are rarely represented, focusing on themes of transmission, identity, culture, and resilience.
