Biography

Elena Chernyshova (1981, Rus), lives and works in Moscow. She developed an interest in visual documentary writing while studying architecture. Photography is for her a way to interfere in the daily life of communities facing environmental, political and economic change. His work highlights the consequences of human activity, his way of adapting and his various lifestyles. Elena Chernyshova regularly collaborates with National Geographic Russia, Geo, New York Times, Le Monde, etc. She won the Prix de la Fondation Lagardère and 2011 and the Prix Brouillon d'un rêve from SCAM in 2017, Paris (France) for her project Gone with the Faith. She won the 3rd World Press Photo Prize in 2014 for Days of Night, Nights of Days.
