The REVO series is part of Lucas Leffler’s exploration of the heritage of the photography industry. The work evokes three periods in this history: wet collodion, the industrial age of film photography embodied by Kodak, and the advent of digital photography.
In the 2000s, Kodak adopted the slogan “What a nice day for a revolution” to mark the transition to digital and turn the page on film photography. The images, sourced from YouTube, show the demolition of the factory, filmed by its workers.
The digital artifacts from these archives blend with the look of wet collodion, an early photographic technique that emerged at the dawn of photography and was chosen by the artist. The superimposition of these techniques thus creates a dialogue between the different layers of the medium’s history, from its origins to the digital age.
