Biographie
Martra Zgierska est une artiste polonaise, née en 1987 à Lublin. Elle aborde le thème du traumatisme, des expériences liminaires et des tensions qui y sont associées. Depuis son grave accident de voiture, son corps physiquement affecté est naturellement devenu un outil d'exploration de la réalité. A travers la photographie performative, elle explore les canons de la beauté féminine et met à mal la pression que la société contemporaine exerce sur l'image de la femme. Ses œuvres ont été exposées dans de nombreux musées, galeries et festivals. Lauréate du Prix HSBC pour la Photographie 2016 et de nombreux autres prix et bourses. En 2018, elle a été nominée pour le Foam Paul Huf Award 2018 et la DZ BANK Art Collection Fellowship 2019. En 2019, elle a été nommée artiste de l'année au Festival international de photographie de DongGang en Corée du Sud. Elle remporte en 2023 le Prix Bob Calle du livre d’artiste (Centre Pompidou, Paris, France). Doctorante à l'École doctorale des sciences humaines / Institut des beaux-arts de l'université Marie Curie-Sklodowska de Lublin, elle est titulaire d'une maîtrise en photographie (École nationale polonaise du film de Lodz), d'une maîtrise en théatrologie et d'une maîtrise en journalisme.
